How is this art specifically seen in the community?
Its located in front of the Holy Rosary Cathedral.
How do you think the art has made meaning in the community?
The statue is a statement about the state of poverty. Putting poverty in peoples faces. Homeless people sleep on benches, but across the street are benches with bars that prevent homeless to sleep on it.
It is a message about treating people kindly.
Some people may dehumanize the impoverished, but this is a piece of art that humanizes them instead.
