What type of leadership is present in the community?

Community

How is this art specifically seen in the community?

Rejuvenation is seen as a positive art installation in the Edmonds community. However, due to its small size and location not being near a major foot traffic area, the art installation is perceived but does not invoke any deep thoughts by the majority of residents. When residents are inquired regarding the art piece, it is generally viewed with positivity while others see it as a sign of a changing community; this view point arrives from the knowledge that this art piece was commissioned by private real estate developers.

How do you think the art has made meaning in the community?

Rejuvenation was commissioned by Bosa Properties Inc. as an art piece for the City of Burnaby and sculpted by George Pratt. This piece honors the civic vision of Burnaby (Edmonds) of protecting it’s waterways, and volunteer stream keepers, young and old, who care for Byrne Creek. Located next to a coffee shop and Burnaby Public Library, this piece is a welcome addition to the community. The fountain reminds Edmonds residents of a small stream that used to be located in that area, however has since disappeared due to urbanization.
