What type of leadership is present in the community?

Community

How is this art specifically seen in the community?

The Koi Fish Project is a community group who raises money to fight cancer in young children. As a Asian cultural symbol for strength, independence, and ambition, the koi fish stands as a symbol to celebrate the resilience of children. In 2019, this mural on the front of Kerb Restaurant was made to show support to a local child who was fighting leukemia.

How do you think the art has made meaning in the community?

Childhood cancer is a topic that people should be more aware of.  The support this mural brings to children is impactful, and shows them that they are not alone. The mural depicts community, solidarity, and determination to not give up fighting. It also advocates for more art in the community and calls for people to come together and create something new.
