Community

How is this art specifically seen in the community?

For me, this art is the representation of simplicity, tradition, and sensibility. It brings a refresh to the street otherwise covered in concrete and gray, busy, and in a rush. This art brings some colors to the place and great vibes to the place

How do you think the art has made meaning in the community?

The Charm City Crabs represents the main cultural and gastronomic charms of Baltimore, and more specific Maryland, the Blue Crabs of Maryland the state’s most tasty dish. It is known that crabs are very important to the community since they are predator and prey living in Chesapeake Bay food web. They are necessary in maintaining the sea food chain in the bay in contained levels. Yet their famous comes from the buttery taste and delicate texture of the meat. Even though there are blue crabs in many other locations and countries, the taste and texture are very different considering that only the crabs from this region need to hibernate in the winter times due to low temperatures, the proper sea life cycle in the bay. So, to conclude, this art represents part of the culture of Maryland and Baltimore, as well as the pride of having the best crab. This art now is part of Baltimore eternalizing a character that is part of many family dinners, and friends’ parties, and celebrations
