How is this art specifically seen in the community?
This is a digital photograph located in Terminal D in BWI airport. It is part of a larger art exhibit amongst other artwork created by Baltimore artists. The art displayed at this terminal shows how Baltimore celebrates art in it’s different forms and celebrates various cultures as well. As described on a sign accompanying the display “This artwork celebrates natural and intellectual resources. our regional flavors, and the wonders of exploration and aviation.” (BWI Airport, Terminal D)
How do you think the art has made meaning in the community?
This photograph explores how we often create isolation for ourselves amongst others. We feel the need to look busy, so we turn to our phones as an escape. This artist is encouraging the viewer to be comfortable sitting with their thoughts by joining the line.
